Hill House

Location: Nainital, Uttarakhand

This project was to develop a property in Nainital, into a holiday home. Architecture on hills always look beautiful but planning, designing and execution is difficult, actually as an architect I should say interesting, thrilling and challenging due to difficult terrain, slopes, adverse climatic conditions, vegetation and natural hazards.

The house is a climate responsive building design taking maximum advantage of natural energy resources along with the fundamental idea of providing comfort in close integration with the dynamic conditions of the environment.

The house is designed in two part in different levels connected by the passage and staircase. The two different segments of the house serves different purposes.

The integration of modern and vernacular architecture makes this structure most functional, aesthetically supreme and in direct response to the natural conditions.

The fire places, railway sleepers to make the walkway and a high machaan adds to the charm and style of the property.
