Veronica Auditorium, PWC

There is no greater pillar of stability then a strong, free and educated women. Education is a fundamental human right and should be accessible to all irrespective of their gender. Patna Women’s College was established in 1940 by Bishop B.J.Sullivan S.J. and Mother M.Josephine for a social change which was meant to librate and empower women by providing them equal opportunities of higher education. With this vision, the foundation of Patna Women’s college was laid in Patna, Bihar. It was a brave and revolutionary step at that time in a place where female education was criticized by majority if not by all and was not considered necessary and important. Patna Women’s College is the first women’s college in Bihar as a pioneer of women’s education in the state

The main building of the campus is a timeless hallmark building approximately 80 years old and have a rich architectural history. It is a beautiful amalgam of different components and elements of various architectural styles making it a masterpiece. Development and growth is a continuing process and infrastructure is one of the many pillars of development.

Architecture is not merely making a floor plan but creating a composition. A composition becomes functional and aesthetically supreme by the combination of elements put together in right manner and correct proportions. The new Veronica Auditorium is the right example of another timeless composition following the same language of the elements as in the the main building. It is a unique synthesis of Hindu, Islamic, Norman and Gothic styles.

The design does not allow the eye to settle in one place and the right balance between all the elements makes it a composite and a well-planned design.
